I graduated in 2024 and currently work as a Software Engineer, earning approximately 35L annually (base + bonus + stocks). I’m considering a Master’s in Quantitative Finance after gaining two years of experience, aiming for quant roles. However, I’m concerned about the current job market, particularly for international graduates in Europe. Am I making a mistake by pursuing this path given these challenges?
That’s a big decision! Quant finance is definitely competitive, and the job market’s a bit shaky right now. But you’ve got a good starting salary as a software engineer, so it’s not like you’re desperate for a job. Two years of experience will also make your application stronger.
And don’t forget the visa situation for Europe. It can be tricky for international students to get work permits after graduation. Some countries are more welcoming than others, so you’d need to research that carefully.
