It depends on why you’re taking it. If it’s for university admission, you’ll almost certainly need the Academic version

Which one is easier: the IELTS General or the IELTS Academic?

But if you’re immigrating or applying for certain types of visas, you might only need the General Training test. It’s supposed to be a bit more focused on everyday English.

Pretty much. The listening and speaking sections are the same for both, but the reading and writing sections are different.

Yeah, Academic is the one universities require. It’s generally considered a bit more challenging, especially the writing section
