Anyone know how much the tuition is at UTA?

I am thinking of applying to the University of Texas at arlington but totally lost on how much the tuition fees are for international students :money_with_wings: Anyone got a rough idea or paid it recently?

Somewhere around 57 lakhs per year. However I would suggest you not to apply/enroll in UTA because it’s not a reputed school. Also getting visa approved for UTA will be hassle for you.

It will be around 14,000$ per semester with your insurance. You will have an option to get a govt. insurance, which might not cover all hospital bill, and it’s for free, or you will get tax credit, so, you don’t have to pay around 2,000$ in your tuition.

It will also depend on your program credits, each credit will cost around $1,300, and you will be taking three subjects, each subject will be 3 credit hours. so, for 9 credit hours you will be paying $12,000 + $2,000(Insurance) each semester.

If your program is a 36-credit course, you will be paying $48,000 (41.5 L INR) + $2,000(each semester, $3,500 in spring semester), if yours is a 30 credit course, you will be paying $40,000 (35 L INR) + $2,000(each semester, $3,500 in spring semester).

other than tuition, you will have your rent and food expenses, will can be around $500 or more based on your expenses per month.

You can get on-campus part time, which will pay you starting from $9 to $15/hour, based on where you get it, and your work, 19.5 hours per week or less.

Another advantage is, if you manage to get a Graduate Teaching Assistant or a Graduate Research Assistant, your tuition for that semester will become half. It’s called in-state tuition, and also get around $1,000+ per month as your pay. Many students save money like that. You will need to talk your professors in the department.

Another source of saving money is, trying to get Residence Assistant. All the on-campus buildings will be looking for RAs, that will cover your rent free, and upon you will get some money based on the apartments you are living in.

@Suryansh , @Abhishek_Nagaraja, thanks to both of you for breifing about UTA’s tuition costs!

I got another question, would any of you know if TA/RA positions or departmental scholarships typically cover a significant portion of these costs for CS students? Or would you recommend other ways to cover expenses?
