Which university is better for marketing in London?

I got offers from Queen Mary and Royal Holloway for a master’s in marketing and I can’t decide. Both seem good but also kind of similar?? I’m trying to think long term like jobs, university name, the city and all. Anyone know what’s actually better?

Hello @anushka_mystic

Thankyou for putting out your question. Many congratulations in receiving your offers and to answer your query, I am afraid, I don’t have much knowledge on the Royal Holloway. I can share my knowledge for the Queen Mary University of London as I graduated in Msc Marketing and hope it can give you idea about the same. The QM hold a good repuation as one of the top Russel group Universities and among top rankings for the Msc Marketing course and this is why, I chose it for my study. It has a series of modules that are divided into lectures and seminars and you have readings and case studies to make yourself aware of the learnings. Plus, the academics and lecturers hold a strong background their profile and are helpful in sharing their experience with the students. In addition, you are able to get bits of experience in writing and working on the on business case, group projects and individual based projects to enhance your knowledge in the field and selecting the right path for you. In terms of work experience perspectives, the University provides career services that can guide you to gain practical experience through series of placements, projects or part-time jobs, so you can keep a tap on it and can work in your field during the period of study. As far as longer term perspective is concerend, the QM graduates hold good value at later part as well.

As a suggestion, I would also ask you to review the Royal Holloway and compare both the Universities on the parameters and then take the decision. However, I can say that you can go for the Queen Mary to experience the good University and student life, giving you the city experience and opportunity to make good for yourself.

Hope it helps!

Thankyou and best wishes to you.

hey @anushka_mystic Hey! Congrats on getting offers from both — that’s awesome! Both Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and Royal Holloway (RHUL) are solid picks for a Master’s in Marketing.

Tbh both are decent unis, but they’re a bit different vibe-wise. Queen Mary is in London, so you’ll have way more networking + job opportunities just because of the location, but cost of living there is also super high. Royal Holloway is a more chill, kinda campus-y environment outside London (Egham), cheaper living but fewer direct opportunities compared to being in the city. For marketing, being in London can give you an edge since most firms/events are based there. So if you can handle the expenses, QM might be better long-term. If you prefer a quieter student life and lower costs, RH works too. Depends on your priorities

Okay so if you want the real London city feel and better networking/job events, Queen Mary is your bet. It’s in East London, close to startups + marketing hubs. Also it’s a Russell Group university which adds some brand value for recruiters. The course also has optional modules around digital and consumer behavior if you’re into that.

Royal Holloway is nice but it’s in Egham which is like 40 mins from central london and kinda quiet  If you’re into a more peaceful vibe or campus life, that’s cool. But for placements + real-world marketing stuff, Queen Mary might give more exposure. Also look at the QS ranking in marketing, Queen Mary usually scores higher.

@anushka_mystic Both Queen Mary (QMUL) and Royal Holloway are good choices for a Master’s in Marketing, but they differ mainly in reputation and location. Queen Mary, being part of the Russell Group and located in London, gives you stronger brand value, easier access to internships, networking, and long-term job opportunities in the city. The flip side is higher living costs, but the exposure often balances that out. Royal Holloway, on the other hand, has a beautiful, quieter campus in Surrey with slightly lower living costs and solid faculty, but you’ll be about 40–50 minutes from central London. If your priority is career opportunities, industry connections, and university name recognition, QMUL has an edge. If you prefer a calmer environment with decent academics and don’t mind commuting for exposure, Royal Holloway is still a solid pick.
