Trying to decide between Northeastern University’s MS in Analytics (College of Professional Studies) and UT Dallas’ MS in Business Analytics. Mainly looking at job opportunities after graduation and the return on investment. Would love to hear from anyone who’s studied at either or knows how things are job-wise after these programs. Thanks!
Both are decent choices, but there’s a bit of a difference in how recruiters perceive the programs. UT Dallas has a solid reputation in analytics, especially in Texas and the surrounding areas. It’s also more affordable compared to NEU, so ROI is generally better. NEU’s CPS programs are slightly less recognized than its main campus ones, so that’s something to keep in mind. But NEU does have the co-op program, which can help with getting that first job experience.
Yeah, the co-op at NEU is definitely a plus, but make sure the MS in Analytics at CPS actually includes co-op options – not all of them do. UT Dallas grads seem to find jobs faster, especially in Texas where there’s a strong demand for data folks. Also, a lot of companies are familiar with their program because it’s been around for a while. That helps when you’re applying. NEU’s location in Boston is great though, with access to a lot of big companies.
Totally agree with the above! If your focus is purely ROI and job placement speed, UT Dallas might edge out slightly. It’s more budget-friendly and has a strong alumni presence in the analytics space. NEU is more expensive, and the CPS tag sometimes confuses employers who aren’t familiar with the structure. If you’re okay with spending a bit more and want the Boston exposure + co-op (if available), NEU could still be worth it. Just weigh how soon you want to break even after graduating.
