I’ve got offers from Seneca College (Toronto), St. Clair College (Chatham), and Mohawk College (Hamilton). I’m trying to figure out which one gives a better chance for PR in Canada without super high living costs. Any advice on what to choose?
Hey, that’s awesome! Congrats on the offers PR-wise, all these colleges are in Ontario, so you’d be applying under the same provincial programs. But cost of living is definitely something to consider. Toronto is amazing but expensive. Chatham (St. Clair) is a lot more affordable — rent and daily expenses are lower. It’s a smaller city, though, so lifestyle and part-time job options are more limited.
Yup, I agree with that. I have a friend at Mohawk in Hamilton, and he says it’s kind of a middle ground — not as pricey as Toronto but still has a decent number of job opportunities. Also, Hamilton is growing fast, so it could be a good spot in the long term if you’re thinking PR. The college has a solid reputation too.
Adding to that — if your main focus is PR, then you might also want to look at how easy it is to get full-time work after your course. Smaller cities like Chatham can make it easier to land jobs in your field because there’s less competition. That helps with getting that Canadian work experience, which boosts your PR points later.
