I keep hearing students say study abroad isn’t worth it anymore… like with all the visa issues, job struggles, cost and all. But then also students going to US, Canada, UK, etc. What countries even make sense right now if you want to study and settle after? Anyone figured this out?
Depends what you want to do. Like tech? US still makes sense if you can afford it + play the long game (OPT > H1B > GC). UK got that 2 yr post study visa but jobs are very competitive, especially for international grads. Canada easier PR route, especially through PGWP + express entry if you do a legit masters.
Hi @nikhilshivastav1996
Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been mentoring students for the past few years and went through this myself. I studied at RIT and worked in the US after, so I’ve seen both the hype and the reality up close.
Studying abroad can still be a great move, but only if you’re smart about your choices. Right now, countries like Canada, Germany, and Australia make the most sense if you’re aiming to study and eventually settle. They offer better post-study work options and clearer PR pathways, especially if you’re in fields like tech, healthcare, engineering, or data. The US and UK are still solid for top programs but come with higher risk, mainly around visas, job hunting, and long-term immigration.
It’s really about aligning your country, course, and career goals. If you’re not sure how to figure that out or want help thinking it through, feel free to connect. Happy to help.
