Thinking of applying to University of Strathclyde for supply chain and logistics management next year… anyone got info on how the university accommodation works? How to apply, cost, and whether it’s good for international students? Also is it better to stay in private housing or university ones?
I got in this fall for the same course! So for University of Strathclyde accommodation, you gotta apply through their online portal, opens around April I think. They give priority to 1st yrs and intl students. I’m in James Blyth Court rn – it’s ensuite n kinda quiet, which is nice for studying. Price is like £110-£130 per week depending on the building.
Hi @inflammableliquor, University of Strathclyde pretty good with accommodation, most first-years, including postgrads, can get into uni halls if they apply early. The halls are all close to campus, so you won’t be trekking miles to get to class, and you can pick between self-catered and catered places.
Price-wise, it’s usually somewhere between £4.5k–£6.5k a year, and that includes bills and Wi-Fi. Once you get your offer, you apply online through their portal earlier is always better if you want more choice.
For international students, I’d say halls are the easiest way to settle in and make friends right away. Private housing can be cheaper if you share, but then you’ve got to sort out bills, landlords, and maybe a commute. If you want things simple and social, go for uni halls; if you prefer more independence, private might suit you better.
hey @inflammableliquor If you’re looking at the University of Strathclyde for Supply Chain and Logistics Management, their accommodation is pretty straightforward to apply for—you can usually apply online once you’ve accepted your offer, and they allocate rooms on a first-come, first-served basis. Costs vary depending on the type of room (shared bathroom, en-suite, etc.), but for international students, uni accommodation is generally the easier and safer choice in the first year because it’s close to campus, bills are included, and you get to meet people easily. Private housing can sometimes be cheaper or give you more freedom, but it usually comes with extra responsibilities like setting up utilities and dealing with landlords. Most first-year internationals stick with uni housing and then move out to private flats in later years once they know the area better.

Hi, @inflammableliquor At the University of Strathclyde, international students can apply for university-managed halls through the accommodation portal once they receive an offer. Rooms range from standard shared options to ensuite, with weekly costs usually between £110 and £175, and most bills like WiFi, electricity, and insurance are included. This makes it convenient and safe, especially for new students. Private housing, on the other hand, offers more independence and sometimes better facilities, but it can be pricier (often £160+ per week), and you’ll need to manage utilities yourself. Many international students prefer starting in university halls to settle in, make friends, and adjust to life in Glasgow before considering private housing later if they want more flexibility or privacy.
