What is the roadmap for applying FOR MASTERS in US/UK

Hello guys, I’m a third-year mechanical student from IIT Hyderabad, and I’m planning to pursue an MBA in finance either in the UK or the US after graduation, Is work experience really necessary? Does an internship count?

Hey, yes if you are planning to go for an MBA abroad, minimum of 3 years of work experience is required to understand and correlate with the nature of the program. MBA is a practical course delivered with reference to case studies and understanding to this can only be gained with relevant work experience.

Freshers MBA are also available. However, they are least encouraged keeping in mind the ROI and relevancy of the course.

Secondly, internships are not counted as a part of your profile. Yes, they contribute towards your holistic development but unfortunately they aren’t considered as a full time job.

Thirdly, if you to do MBA without work ex, I would highly recommend that you plan for a MSc with specialisation.

If you want to understand who is an MBA for, difference between MSc and MBA; what are the teaching methodologies etc, you may refer to the below provided reels:

Hi! For pursuing an MBA in Finance in the UK or the US:

  • Work Experience: While not always mandatory, work experience is highly valued. It can significantly enhance your application and provide practical insights that complement your studies.

  • Internships: Internships do count and can be beneficial, especially if they are relevant to finance. They demonstrate your interest and experience in the field.

Even if you have strong academic credentials, having relevant work experience or internships can strengthen your application and improve your chances of admission and securing financial aid.
