I’ve got a CGPA of 7.2/10, IELTS score of 6.5, and a GRE score of 319. Plus, I’ve done a research paper and some good projects too. Any idea which public universities in Switzerland I could get into for a master’s in data science?
Hi @87Rajput ,your profile seems quite good for many public universities in Switzerland. For data science specifically, there are schools like University of Zurich and University of Geneva which are likely to appreciate your hands-on project experience and research background. They’re generally a bit more flexible on GPA compared to the more selective ETH Zurich and EPFL, which are top-tier and typically expect higher GPAs. But even there a strong project experience could help your case.
If you’re interested in the more technical side, EPFL could be a good fit since they’re research-focused and offer data science specializations within broader computer science programs. University of Lausanne might also be an option; they offer a program in Information Systems with data analytics that could fit well with your background.
There are several universities like these ones which are open to diverse academic profiles, and they offer reputable programs. You can start by researching about them, comparing them and check about the eligibility criteria and maybe financial aids for international students too.
Can you tell me about the universities for MBA too??
IMD is a great program that’s in Switzerland- excellent job placements throughout Europe, only 12 months long but still has opportunity for a summer internship, would highly recommend. So you should look for the universities with that program.
If you are considering an MBA in Switzerland, I understand the attraction, especially with programs in finance and international business at schools like IMD in Lausanne and the University of St. Gallen. But if you are open to consider other options, getting an MBA from US could be even more advantageous for you. US MBA programs have a wider range of specializations, deeper industry connections, and wide alumni networks in areas like technology and healthcare, among others. Moreover, most US programs offer a flexible financing option for international students and the possibility to stay longer than in other countries for work experience with the OPT visa, which is even more helpful in case of long-term career growth. Because as much as Swiss programs may offer their own benefits, a US MBA would open wider professional pathways and networking opportunities, especially if you are considering career exploration across industries and the building of a strong global network.
