Hey everyone! I’m in 12th grade and super into data science. I was looking at the MS in Business Analytics at the University of Texas at Dallas, but I’m not sure… does it actually help you get into data science or is it mostly just analytics stuff? I don’t wanna end up stuck in dashboards when I really wanna do machine learning and AI. Also, does anyone know the University of Texas at Dallas acceptance rate? Would love to hear from someone who’s been through this!
Hey! I’m also exploring master’s programs for data science. From what I’ve seen, UTD’s MSBA has some machine learning courses, but it’s still very analytics-heavy. If you want hardcore data science, you might need to take extra electives or look at an MS in Data Science instead.
Yep, agree. My cousin did MSBA there, and while he got some exposure to Python, SQL, and ML, a lot of his batch went into analyst roles at companies like Deloitte & JP Morgan. Not pure data science, but still decent jobs.
Tbh, most business analytics programs lean towards analytics, not deep ML/AI stuff. If you’re set on data science, check UTD’s MS in Data Science or even CS with ML electives. But MSBA is solid if you’re okay with a mix of analytics + some data science.
