UK vs US - Which one’s better for Masters in Computer Science?

,

Been thinking about doing Masters in Computer Science lately :face_with_spiral_eyes:
Is there any major difference if u do it from US vs UK? Like career stuff, duration, money etc?

Ok so here’s the thing…US universitiess mostly do 2 yr master’s, UK is 1 yr. Sounds like UK saves time right? yeah but US gives you more time for internships & part-time jobs so better experience. Also, US has like way more tech companies so chances to stay back & work are higher.

@Richa Great question. There are some key differences between doing a Master’s in Computer Science in the US vs the UK.

In the UK, most programs are 1 year long. They’re usually cheaper overall, but job opportunities after graduation can be limited, especially for international students due to tighter visa rules.

In the US, the programs are typically 1.5 to 2 years. They cost more, but you get access to stronger job markets, especially in tech hubs like the Bay Area, Seattle, or Austin. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) and STEM extensions also give you more time to work and build experience.

If your goal is to work in tech after graduation, the US usually offers better long-term opportunities. But the UK can be a good fit if you’re looking for a shorter, more affordable path.

Happy to chat more if you’re thinking seriously about it.
