The UK has announced sharp increases in fast-track visa and sponsorship processing fees, effective October 21, adding to a series of immigration cost hikes in recent years.
What’s Changing
- Sponsorship management requests (for workers, temporary workers, or students): GBP 350 (≈₹36,700), up 75% from GBP 200
- Priority service for sponsor license applications: GBP 750 (≈₹78,500), up 50% from GBP 500
- Standard processing fees: No change
These new rates apply only to expedited applications for companies and universities sponsoring international students or employees.
Impact on Students and Institutions
The fee hikes could lead to slower or more costly visa sponsorships, particularly for universities handling large volumes of international student applications. Experts say the move aims to “cover administrative costs and ensure faster processing.”
Note: From 2026, UK universities will also be allowed to raise tuition annually with inflation if they meet quality standards.
