The UK has announced a major policy update that will benefit international students, especially those planning to build a career through entrepreneurship. Starting November 25, 2025, students in the UK will be allowed to switch directly from a Study Visa to an Innovator Founder Visa without having to travel back to their home country.
The Innovator Founder Visa lets students set up and run an innovative business in the UK, provided their idea is unique and has been endorsed by an approved body. This visa replaces the now-discontinued Start-up Visa.
What This Means for Students:
-
Apply for the Innovator Founder Visa within the UK
-
Start working on your business while your application is under process
-
Requirements include:
-
Valid endorsement from an Innovator Founder endorsing body
-
Application made while holding a Study Visa
-
This update comes as the UK tightens other visa pathways. Recent changes have reduced the Post-Study Work (PSW) duration, affecting future graduates.
