Tips for applying to scholarships for studying abroad?

Hey just wanted to know how to apply for scholarship abroad. I’ve been seeing ppl get full rides n stuff n it sounds cool but idk where to even begin. Anyone here done this before? Like what should I start with?

Hey @Dhruvvvv , good question. A lot of students feel the same way when starting out. I’ve been mentoring students for quite some time now, and It’s definitely possible if you approach it right.
Start by understanding the types of scholarships out there. Some are merit-based, others are need-based, and many are specific to universities or programs. There are also major government-funded ones like Fulbright, DAAD, or Chevening that cover everything for international students.
Next, narrow down the countries and programs you’re interested in. Scholarship options vary a lot depending on where you’re applying and what you’re studying. For example, the US and Canada offer more merit-based aid, while countries like Germany or Norway have low or no tuition fees.
Focus on building a strong profile. Good academics, test scores (like IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT), solid recommendation letters, and a strong personal statement all matter. Showing leadership or community involvement can also give you an edge.
Most scholarships close 9 to 12 months before the intake, so if you’re aiming for Fall 2026, now’s the time to start. If you’ve got a target country or course in mind, feel free to drop it here and I’ll help you plan your next steps.

Hello @Dhruvvvv ,

Yes, it’s totally possible to get a scholarship to study abroad even full funding in some cases but it’s competitive. Start at least a year in advance. First, shortlist countries and universities you’re interested in, then check their official websites for scholarship options. For Germany, top ones include DAAD, Deutschlandstipendium, and university-specific scholarships. For Indian students, also look into KC Mahindra, JN Tata Endowment, and GOVT-funded scholarships (some for reserved categories). You’ll need a strong SOP, CV, LORs, and good academics. Keep checking DAAD.de, GD’s Scholarships section, and platforms like scholarship portals and forums for new updates. You will get most of the scholarship info on this platform. So, yes start early, stay organized, and apply to multiple options. All the best!
