Hey guys, just wanted to know how’s Queen Mary, University of London in terms of studies and student life? Like is Queen Mary University of London prestigious or more average?
I’ve got a cousin studying there rn and she’s loving it. The campus is super nice, plus it’s right in London so you get the big city vibe. Academics are solid, especially for law, business and medicine. It’s not Oxford level obviously, but it’s well respected and has a good rep internationally. And yeah, London means it’s not cheap, but the opportunities are crazy good.
Hello @kratijain
Thanyou so much for putting out the question. I am an alumna of the QMUL batch 2023 and my experience as a student turned out to be an amazing one. Coming out of my experience, the Uni is well known to provide the one of the best student life experience because of its campus, residential accomadations and the events throughout the year. In terms of the academics and faculty, I have been grateful to be under guidance of the supervisors and professsors who helped and supported with the grades. The live discussion and practicals, group projects and individual projects helped in understanding the core of the subjects. With all due contributions, QMUL ranks much well for the programs of Business Management, Law and Research making it one of the leading Russel Group Universities and also in terms of reputation as one of the prefered UK universities.
In accordance, there are lot of services by the University like societies, career services, social business programs, On-campus residential experience, short trips that are organised by departments and schools to keep you all engaged.
My solid tip for you would be to engage the maximum at the University welcome fair week to familarise with what the University will bring for you.
To summarise, I lived my student life to the maximum, working with the university, making friends and connection across the globe.
Hope it helps:)
Hey @kratijain, Queen Mary, University of London is actually pretty well-regarded, it’s part of the Russell Group, which is like the UK’s version of the Ivy League. Academically, it’s strong in fields like law, medicine, engineering, and business. The campus is in East London, so you get a mix of city life and a proper campus vibe, which is rare in London.
In terms of prestige, it’s not at the very top like Oxford or Imperial, but it’s definitely above “average” and has a good international reputation, especially for certain programs. Student life is lively with loads of societies, cultural events, and being in London means you’re never short of things to do.
hey @kratijain If you’ve applied to Queen Mary you’ve picked a pretty good mix solid academics, good research reputation and you still get that London experience without being totally scattered across the city.
If you get in you’ll probably meet people from everywhere (seriously, 40%+ international students) and the campus vibe is way more community-like than most London unis. Plus, being in East London means cheaper eats and housing than the city center and still only a short tube ride from all the fun parts.
Yeah true, I’ve heard the same. Also QMUL’s really diverse – you’ll find people from literally all over the world so you don’t feel out of place. They’ve got good industry connections too, so internships and part-time jobs are easier to find. If you’re aiming for a decent uni with strong programs and London life, it’s a good pick. Just plan your budget well.
