Saw the University of Texas at Arlington has MS in industrial engineering… is it actually good?? Trying to figure if it’s worth going there or just hype.
@priya.ucm2024 Hey! That’s a really good question — and honestly, UTA’s MS in Industrial Engineering is actually a pretty decent option, especially if you’re looking for something career-focused and budget-friendly. It may not be as flashy as some of the bigger-name schools like UT Austin, but it’s still part of the University of Texas system, and the program offers a good mix of practical coursework, solid research areas, and flexibility. Plus, being located right between Dallas and Fort Worth gives you access to a ton of companies and industries — which is a big plus for internships and job hunting.
Now, is it hyped? Not really — in fact, it’s kind of underrated. A lot of students go there for the value it offers: reasonable tuition, a strong curriculum, and a decent shot at job opportunities post-grad, especially in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing roles. If your goal is to gain solid skills and get into the workforce without burning a hole in your pocket, it’s definitely worth considering. But if you’re aiming for top research labs or super elite branding, it might fall a little short.
