Thinking about MS at SUNY Buffalo – is it a good choice?

I’m looking at different US universities for a Master’s and SUNY Buffalo popped up a lot. Is it actually a good option for MS? Would love to know about academics, life there, and how it is overall for international students.

Hey! So I have a cousin doing his MS in CS at SUNY Buffalo right now – he’s liking it so far. The course structure is solid, and the professors are pretty chill and helpful. It’s a public uni, so tuition’s more reasonable compared to a lot of others. Plus, Buffalo’s not crazy expensive to live in, which helps a lot when you’re on a student budget.

Jumping in here – I’m actually heading to Buffalo this fall! I picked it mainly because of the value-for-money factor. Also, their research output is decent, especially in tech-related fields. A lot of grads do land internships and jobs in NYC or even in Canada because it’s pretty close. Weather’s a bit brutal in winter though, so just be ready for snow… lots of it :joy:

Yeah totally agree with both of you. I graduated last year and the job scene’s been okay, but you do need to hustle – it’s not like offers just fall in your lap. Career services help, but networking and side projects go a long way. If you’re clear about what you want to specialize in, SUNY Buffalo gives you the space to build on that. Solid pick overall if you’re planning smart.
