Germany has changed its study visa rules for 2025, making the process faster and more digital while increasing the financial requirements for students.
Things to Know
- The required amount for a blocked account is €11,208 per year (approx. ₹10,18,505) or roughly €934 per month (approx. ₹84875); this amount could increase due to inflation.
- Transfer this amount to a German-blocked account, which should remain untouched until you arrive in Germany.
- You may also include a financial guarantee, a scholarship award, or a letter of support from a German resident.
Applications can be submitted online using the Visa Navigator tool. Students may then have to give a visa interview. Processing might take 6-12 weeks, so students should apply early.
As per DAAD, these updated regulations will simplify the process while addressing students’ financial obligations.
