New Zealand to Speed Up Visa Processing for International Students

International students who intend to continue their education in New Zealand must renew their visas. The Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has decided to expedite the visa processing time for these visa applications.

This requirement will affect the priority of the visa application:

  • Tuition fee receipt upfront or their application will be declined.

Key Changes

  • Faster Processing: Applications with complete documentation will be processed in 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Peak Season Adjustments: During the busy summer months (October to February), New Zealand recommends applying 3 months in advance to avoid delays.

Work Opportunities

  • Part-Time Work: Depending on visa conditions, students can work up to 20 hours per week during studies or full-time during holidays.

Important Notes

  • Visa for Course Changes: Students must have a valid visa before making these changes.
  • Incomplete Applications: Missing documents may result in application rejection, as New Zealand can’t contact students for missing info.

This new change aims to provide flexibility to students applying for study visas and improve efficiency during the peak summer period.
