Applying for a New Zealand student visa just got simpler. Immigration New Zealand has launched ADEPT, an upgraded online system designed to speed up decisions, cut paperwork, and make the process more student-friendly.
Key Updates for Students
- From August 18, applicants for these visas must use the new system:
- English Language Student Visa
- Exchange Student Visa
- Fee Paying Student Visa
- Pathway Student Visa
- NZ Government Scholarship Student Visa
- Foreign Government Supported Student Visa
- Old system: Applications submitted on or before August 17 will still be processed. Drafts must be completed by September 17, after which they’ll be deleted.
- No paper applications: From September 18, only online submissions will be accepted.
Why This Matters
ADEPT is part of a 7-year plan to digitize all visa categories. Visitor, Work, and Permanent Resident visas are already on the platform. Immigration NZ says the goal is to offer a faster, clearer, and more self-service experience for applicants.
Tip: Apply at least 3 months before your travel date to avoid peak-season delays.
