Any idea how much it costs to live on campus at Rochester Institute of Technology? Trying to figure out what kind of budget i’d need if i get in. I know the tuition is separate, but what is thecost for stay+food+other things especially for international students. Someone pls help
I’m going this fall! for on-campus living, RIT has different housing options—like dorms, apartments, suites. for freshmen it’s mostly dorms, and it costs around $8,000 to $10,000 per year just for housing.
The meal plan is like $6,000+ a year. so if you’re counting both, you’re looking at roughly $14k–$16k per year. It’s a bit high but pretty standard in the US. This is the Rochester Institute of Technology cost you’d wanna plan for.
Same here i was confused earlier but talked to a senior who’s there rn. They said internationals just need to show a solid academic record + ok scores. Even if your SAT is like 1150-1200 and the rest is strong, u got chances. Just focus on ur essays and stuff too, that matters more than ppl think.
@divya_aaa My brother’s friend is at RIT and he says living on campus with a meal plan comes to around $8–9K per semester (housing + food). If you go for places like Global Village with a kitchen, it’s closer to $11–12K per semester. Off-campus can be cheaper, like $500–800/month depending on sharing. So yeah, budget roughly $16–20K per year for stay + food on campus.
hey @divya_aaa

Real Student Insight
On discussion forums, some students break it down like this:
“My total was about $1.8K per semester for room + board + food + books” → that’s roughly $3,600/year, which is much lower than the official rates—but might reflect heavy financial aid or specific personal arrangements.(Reddit)
