Job Placement Experiences for Cronkite Graduates: Time to Employment and ASU's Recruitment Process Insights

how long did it take you to secure a job after graduation? What was your experience with ASU’s recruitment process? Any insights on post-graduation job offers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi…There is no such thing as placement process in US. You will be having career fairs where you can reach out different companies at their respective booths and know about their openings. You would have to apply on your own. With the current market situation, there aren’t many companies attending career fairs. So students are relying on LinkedIn , Indeed platforms to apply for jobs and reach out to recruiters. Also, there are still many students who are yet to get jobs after graduation here. Only a handful of them secured jobs. So it depends on your efforts and networking. Hope this helps !

Sunil is spot-on with his recommendations. However, I would like to make the picture a bit more positive. Even though there is no recruitment drive in US universities, many resources are available to improve your resume, interview skills, and negotiation tactics.

Please apply to as many jobs as possible and don’t be disheartened by rejections because usually, the success rate for responses/interview calls is about 2-3% max.

It could take a little more extra effort in the current economic climate but keep trying. Start applying 3-4 months before graduation. Apply for jobs that have been posted recently and apply for real companies rather than consulting firms.

Most of my friends got jobs within 4 months of graduation. Good Luck!
