I recently received an offer for a job at a startup, with work commencing soon. Simultaneously, I’ve been accepted into a Master’s program in the USA, starting in September 2025. This requires me to begin preparing visa applications and other documentation by April/May.
I’m facing a dilemma, that should I:
- Accept the job: Work for 5-6 months, gain professional experience, and then transition to my Master’s program.
- Decline the job: Focus solely on upskilling myself based on the Master’s curriculum and dedicate my time to the visa and documentation process.
My primary concern is whether accepting the job will hinder my ability to complete the necessary visa and documentation procedures, particularly if I’m unable to secure leave from the company.
Given my BTech in Mechanical Engineering background, how should I approach this situation? Any advice would be invaluable
