Italy is undoubtedly the flag bearer of education in the world. Ancient Rome was the cradle of human civilization. Indians have had old ties with Italians, and student exchange programs used to be there even in the BCE. There are thousands of students studying in Italy, and it also hosts the most prominent Indian diaspora in continental Europe. Italy has some of the world’s oldest universities in the world. Today these educational institutions happen to be one of the best universities in the world.

My daughter is going for Masters to Italy. She graduated from Mumbai Univ distance learning. There is a lot of confusion with regard to the academic documents to be submitted under what they call DOV. Can you help?

Hi @Sundeep_Kumar Sir,

Congratulations to your daughter, and we wish her all the best.

DOV stands for Declaration of Value and is a document that verifies the value and authenticity of educational qualifications obtained outside of Italy. One single DOV is required if the graduation, +2, and 10th are from the same country and they refer to the same education system, and vice versa.

The specific requirements and procedures for obtaining a Declaration of Value may vary depending on the country of graduation and the educational institution in Italy. If you share the university’s name, I can fetch the list of documents required for DOV.

Generally, the following academic documents are required to get a DoV for Italy:

  • Copy of the final degree of your daughter (in English or Italian, depending on the university’s requirement)
  • Her transcript of records or mark sheets where passed exams are recorded
  • Italian language proficiency certificate (at least B2 level passed) if the course is in Italian
  • Offer letter from the university

Apart from the academic documents, other requirements include ID, passport copy and photographs. You may check the concerned university’s website for a detailed list of documents required.

Once you submit the relevant documents, the embassy will issue a “Declaration of Value” (Dichiarazione di Valore) of your high school diploma/university degree and certify and legalize the other documents (Apostille) and issue an entry VISA for STUDY purposes to enter Italy.

It is advisable to consult the official website of the Italian embassy or consulate or contact them directly to obtain detailed and up-to-date information on obtaining a Declaration of Value for an Italy student visa.

Hope the answer helps. If you have more concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you.
