Hey! I’ve been looking into courses related to law, crime, and international studies, and came across UNICRI in Italy. Has anyone studied there or knows if it’s a good option for Indian students?
Yeah, UNICRI’s pretty niche but solid if you’re into stuff like international law, crime prevention, and human rights. It’s backed by the UN, so that gives it a global edge. The programs are short and focused, usually postgrad level, but if you’re already sure about this field early on, it’s cool to plan ahead. Italy’s living cost is a bit manageable compared to UK or US too. Plus, Europe exposure helps a lot in this domain.
Heyy @1998kiara I’ve actually applied to UNICRI too. The course on Transnational Crime and Justice seems super interesting especially if you’re into international law, human rights, and stuff related to global crime. It’s jointly organized with the UN and University for Peace, which is a big plus!
From what I’ve seen, some Indian students have gone there and had good experiences. It’s definitely not the usual mainstream uni, but if you’re looking to work in international orgs or NGOs, it could be a great option.
Hey @1998kiara, that’s actually a really cool find. I’ve heard of UNICRI, it’s pretty niche but has a solid reputation, especially for things like international law and crime studies. Since it’s linked with the UN, it could be a great opportunity if you’re looking to work in that space. I’m not sure how the experience is specifically for Indian students, but I’d imagine it’s quite diverse. It might be a good idea to reach out to some past students on LinkedIn or check if there are any forums with alumni experiences.
Totally agree! One of my seniors went for a course there after her law degree and she loved the environment. Super international crowd, so good chance to build networks. And Italy’s vibe is amazing for students — culture, food, everything. Just make sure to check if you’ll need to do another degree before applying, 'cause some UNICRI courses are only for grads. But def worth keeping on your radar.
@1998kiara UNICRI in Italy is quite a unique option since it’s a UN-affiliated institute focused on crime prevention, justice, and international law. Their LL.M. and postgraduate programs in transnational crime, cybersecurity, and justice attract a very international student body, which is great for networking. For Indian students interested in international organizations, NGOs, or policy work, it can be valuable because of the UN connection and exposure to practical workshops. However, it’s a niche program, so it’s best if you’re sure about building a career in international law or crime studies, rather than aiming for broader legal practice back in India.
