Hey! I’ve been looking into the Data Analytics certification at Ryerson University and was wondering if it’s beginner-friendly. I don’t have any background in this field—just curious to know if it’s doable and worth it for someone starting from scratch. Anyone here tried it or knows someone who did?
Yeah, actually I had a friend who joined with zero experience too. She was nervous at first but said the course starts with the basics and kind of builds up slowly. The profs were pretty chill and helpful. I think as long as you’re curious and okay with learning something new, you’ll be fine.
Totally agree. I did a different program at Ryerson (now TMU) but had friends in that cert, and they found it manageable even without a tech background. Some parts like Excel and basic stats come up early, so brushing up on those helps, but it’s not super technical from day one.
Also just to add, if you’re thinking long-term, this certificate can be a nice intro into the data field. A few folks used it as a stepping stone into more advanced stuff or even co-op jobs. It’s definitely not a waste if you’re serious and want to explore data as a career path.
