I have mental health issues C-PTSD due to which I hear voices and it is now 12 long years I have been dealing with it.
I did my Bachelor’s in Biotechnology and mid-way, I realised it was not meant for me while battling mental health issues.
Now my mental health is so bad that I have understood that there is no sure cure for mental health and there are so many people who end their life with mental health issues.
I connected to an IDP agent who told me that I cannot do a Master’s in psychology in Monash University since I have a background in Biotechnology.
(Please understand that I am in no way not intelligent or capable of studying, I couldn’t achieve my potential marks or goals due to struggling with suicidal tendencies and I am not making any excuses also I am aware that people have much worse than me. please try to be understanding and compassionate. I want to do something in the field of Psychology so that people like me don’t suffer in silence and get treatment which is right and appropriate tailor-made for each of us)
Since you have achieved Bachelors in Biotechnology – Congratulations!! Although having serious mental health issue you have completed your degree which I feel is not so easy. We really wish you for a great health in future. Coming to your question of doing Masters in Psychology, I would like to inform you that university has certain requirements to be completed as an international student. For Instance, your undergraduate academic percentage and IELTS score and few additional supplemental documents. (We will guide you with this). There is a possibility that university may ask for certificate from your physician pertaining to your mental health conditions. If everything goes well then you will receive the admission. However, you should note that admission in University is completely based on your eligibility and fulfillments of all requirements which also includes financial stability. We will be happy to assist you further.
My doctor can provide a letter detailing my mental health issues, including my admission to a psychiatric ward. I would appreciate your guidance on whether I could be considered for admission to Monash University with my academic records, which include a 67% in my 12th grade and 62% in my Bachelor’s degree. While I am aware these marks are not exceptional, they are a reflection of the significant mental health challenges I faced, exacerbated by a toxic and abusive environment.
Additionally, could you advise if there are any scholarships available for individuals like myself, who have struggled to reach their full academic potential due to similar circumstances?
While your academic records are below the usual entry requirements, Monash University does consider personal circumstances like mental health challenges. Submitting a letter from your doctor may help provide context for your application.
