Hi! I’m looking into SUNY Buffalo MS in Data Science… just wondering, how likely is it to get a TA/RA position there? I’ve heard mixed information. Would love to hear from anyone who’s already there or knows people who are!
Not super easy actually. SUNY buffalo has a good number of grad students, especially in CS and Data Science, so competition for TA/RA is tough unless you already have some research experience or good coding background. But people do get it in 2nd sem once professors know you or if you reach out early.
It depends on your experience if you have any or expertise in that field. In case you get in touch with a professor and let them know your interests and any relatable work you have done in that field people do get the positions in first sem itself.
If not paid they might still hire you. And starting from 2nd den move you to paid TA/RA.
Also if you do enroll in their course and score high or are punctual for the lectures that too helps you get the position after you complete thay course.
