What are the main advantages of working with an overseas education consultant if I want to study abroad?

They can be helpful in providing you with some good university options based on your scores and overall profile. They can help with list of documents that is required and prepare for LOR and SOP.

However, personally, I did not find it too helpful. Most of the information they provide is available for free on the internet. You can seek help from Alumni or portals like this.

They will ask you to write a draft of your LOR and SOP and then perform some minor edits and grammar check that you can get from many online tools for free.

Don’t just ask GPT to write everything for you. Make it a bit personal and you should be good.

These consultants charge 15-25K or more which usually feels like a waste of money

I would like to add another scenario where your earlier scores or achievements do not look good then I would definitely suggest you to get some help from the education consultants.
Moreover if you are too busy with your schedule & can’t get much time out for all the research and just kind of keep postponing it then definitely get the consultants to help you out.

I have just started to explore study abroad options and I have decent academic scores. I got 78 percent in my graduation , and 74 in my 12th standard. I am just struggeling with the same thought of whether I should go for a consultant or not. I have used several online tools , but isn’t SOP supposed to be personal and these online tools aren’t helping me out , or am I just thinking too much?

try researching about your options and try to use chatgpt just for helping purpose. There are lots and lots of videos available about, how to write your SOPs , check them out. Consultants can definitely help you out better if you are targeting a specific university and your grades aren’t that good. But still, try researching about this stuff and you will get a pretty good idea.

some of them are just there for the money, so if you are thinking to take help from a consultant, research about it firsthand.
