GMAT this September: 720+ scorers, any prep tips?

I’m planning to take the GMAT this September and have 6 months to prepare while working long hours. Anyone who scored 700+ have any advice on where to begin and how to structure my prep?

Hey! I scored a 720. Six months is a good amount of time, even with long work hours. I’d recommend starting with a diagnostic test to see your strengths and weaknesses. That will give you a baseline and help you focus your prep. Manhattan Prep’s free online practice test is a good one.

I scored a 710 and my biggest regret was not taking one early enough. I wasted time studying stuff I already knew. After the diagnostic, make a study plan. Be realistic about how much time you can dedicate each week. Even an hour or two a day is better than nothing. Consistency is key!

700 here! For me, the key was quality over quantity. I focused on understanding the core concepts rather than just memorizing formulas. I used the Official GMAT Guide and also found Target Test Prep really helpful for quant. Don’t neglect the verbal section, though! It’s just as important. And definitely incorporate practice tests throughout your prep, not just at the end. They help you get used to the timing and the test format.

Thanks, everyone! That’s reassuring. I was preparing for engineering entrance exams, actually. I’m thinking of applying for a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. I was worried because I didn’t get into the program I initially wanted, and I felt like I had “wasted” a year.

See? Preparing for engineering entrance exams is definitely relevant to Computer Science! You can talk about the technical concepts you learned, the logical reasoning skills you developed, and your dedication to a challenging field. Don’t think of it as a wasted year. You gained valuable knowledge and experience, even if you didn’t get the outcome you initially hoped for.

Exactly! And the fact that you’re now motivated to study in Germany shows initiative and a willingness to explore new opportunities. Make sure you research the specific admission requirements for Computer Science programs in Germany. Some universities might have specific prerequisites or require proof of language proficiency.
