George Washington University GWU MSBA

Hello,
I got accepted for MSBA program at GWU and got partial scholarship as well. It’s a 1.5 yr program. Prior to this, i have supply chain experience for about 3 years. Can you guys tell me about the program as is it good or not? Plus is the location( Washington, DC) good? What are the job prospects and market condition right now? Should I accept the program given i can afford it? Any response from GWU alumni would highly be appreciated.
Regards,

Hello @Hesham,

Congratulations on your acceptance at GWU and for securing scholarship too. Now, the MSBA program at GWU is well-regarded for its strong focus on data analytics, business intelligence, and practical applications. The curriculum is designed to equip students with technical skills as well as business acumen, which is crucial for roles in analytics. And given your 3 years of supply chain experience, this program could be a great way to advance your career in data-driven decision-making roles within supply chain analytics, operations research, or related fields.

And as per Washington, DC is a good location to study and build a career in data analytics. It’s a hub for technology, consulting, government, and various industries, offering ample networking opportunities, internships, and job prospects. The proximity to major employers and the active professional community in DC can significantly enhance your career opportunities.

If you can afford the program and are passionate about transitioning into or advancing within the analytics field, this seems like a great opportunity. The 1.5-year duration will allow you to gain in-depth knowledge without taking too much time away from the workforce. Additionally, the partial scholarship reduces the financial burden, making it a feasible option. Therefore, you can go for the program, if it will help you to achieve your goals.

Hi Hesham,

I am not a GWU MSBA alumni but have completed MSBA from NEU, 1.5 years is a good duration for an MSBA course. 3 years of supply chain experience will also help, create a niche around to apply for jobs,The location is excellent I would say, as Washington DC has everything nearby especially states with manufacturing industries like North Carolina, Virginia, and Philadelphia. Market conditions are not so good nowadays, but given your experience and specialty, if you will be specific in your search, you can get it quickly. All the best.

Hi @hemanshudhuria,

I really appreciate your insights in this matter. If you don’t mind answering another question. How is NEU’s msba? How’s the curriculum and job opportunities there(Boston in general)? I have also applied to NEU’s MSBA( although i admit i’m applying late). If i get an admit from NEU, what should i decide, assuming i can afford NEU’s COA?
Regards,

Job opportunities are the same everywhere in today’s time as the job-finding process is completely online, so location doesn’t matter much. As far as NEU MSBA is concerned, the curriculum is more towards non-technical courses as opposed to GWU MSBA. So it depends on you, the course duration is the same, the only con about NEU is that it’s extremely tough to get an on-campus job, which is extremely necessary for an international student to bear their financial expenses.
Please talk to GWU alumni if any, about on campus job opportunities and compare everything.

Please note, Boston is an expensive city to live, so the living conditions will differ from Washington DC.
