Finding an on campus job

Hey guys. I’m an international grad student in Mech Engineering and I’ve been trying to find an on campus job since the start of the semester and I’ve had zero luck. I’ve tried asking professors if they have funding for research but most don’t have any. I’ve also tried applying to library positions on Handshake and have had zero luck there either. Should I just wait till next semester starts for more opportunities?

If you are a fresher, it will be difficult to get campus jobs, but not impossible. Handshake is the first place, apply for them, find the email or department, email them and if possible go and talk to them in-person. That is an effective way. There are also many food outlets that keep hiring, for that, you will need to talk to them directly and keep them in contact, or have any senior refer you to those positions. If these won’t work, get 4.0 in all subjects, there will be a high opportunity to get GTAs if you talk to your previous or next semester professors. Mail them, meet them, be interactive in the classes, showcase your knowledge in classes.
