Fall 2020 - Coronavirus impact - what are you planning?

CPT is an attractive feature for international students. They would make changes if doing the first semester online and subsequently going to the university seems to be an attractive prospect for a majority of the students. It depends on the popularity of the prospect and the number of students opting for online courses. No changes are expected on this front.

That totally depends on the student. The summer internship would be useful only if it helps you get a job. There are certain job offers in the US that are certainly conversions of internships into job offers. If the internship does not convert into a job (investment banks or consultants), it may not be very useful. That totally depends on the judgment of the student. Look at the jobs and how the entry into those jobs work.

There is a difference between sanction and disbursement. Your loan tenure starts from the day you disburse it. The student who goes to the university next year would not get their loan disbursed at this point of time. Your interest, tenure will start once you sign the agreement and take the disbursement. Even if the loan gets sanctioned this year, the interest thereon would be charged only when the student takes it out of the loan account.

We do not have the information on Australian universities yet. We will update the details on Australian Universities after consulting the universities. We are hoping to get the updates in a couple of days.

Wait for it as long as possible. But do not wait for so long that you end up losing your seat. You can wait if you are sure that the NCSU’s seat will be there for you, especially if you think that the other universities are preferable to this university.

Check out the refund policies of the university. Make the payment if the university holds a policy to repay the amount in case your visa is not granted. They may defer your admission to next year, so the decision depends on your risk appetite.

This question has already been answered. Do not let go of any of your seats and wait for an appropriate solution.

The current scenario represents a bearish situation, and the situation may worsen with respect to migration within European Union, particularly after Brexit. It may also have an impact on the employment opportunities.

This question is the summary of all the questions. That totally depends on the student. If you defer to Spring 2021 then there is the question of Summer internship. The summer internship would be useful only if it helps you get a job. There are certain job offers in the US that are certainly conversions of internships into job offers. If the internship does not convert into a job, it may not be very useful. So if your target field requires you to have a Summer internship which will then convert into a job, in this case, it won’t be advisable to defer to Spring 2021. The policy related to visa is yet to be released as far as the online courses are concerned and the student must wait for the situation to be opportune. One of the safest options right now is deferring to Fall 2021.

For OPT, CPT, there are no updates regarding changes in these areas. They may ask the student to complete the semesters online if the visa gets rejected. The student should not opt for this as the same facility may be available at lower prices. In case you complete your first semester online and your visa gets rejected thereafter, you may opt for dropping the course itself and look for a job in India and reapply next year, where they may take your first semester credits into consideration.

The universities which have offered online courses have mentioned that the course structure would defer activities that require on-campus activity to the subsequent semesters that are to be attended at the campus itself. One of the speculation is that the college will offer classes in the first semester which can be done online and defer any course which requires on-campus presence.

There are certain hotspots of the outbreak in the US, majorly in New York, New Jersey areas. There are areas that are less impacted as compared to other areas and these universities may be able to resume classes. For the universities where the impact is more, the chances of the Fall session is less. There are a lot of factors into consideration for international students which includes visa applications and appointments so there is a chance that all the classes won’t start on time in September at most of the universities, also considering the current scenario of economic slowdown. Some states might open up if the trends improve in the next two to three weeks.

The only way to get an educational loan is through international players. But as I mentioned, collateral can come from any third party as well, any family member or friends. Try to arrange these from your acquaintances to get a loan from a nationalized bank.

It depends on the lender. The rate of interest from a nationalized bank would be around 8.75% to 9.25%, and for international players it would range from 8-10% in terms of USD. In case of international players, co-applicants and collateral are not needed but they cover only a handful of colleges and countries. You need to pay interest during the moratorium period. In any case, loans in USD are costlier.

In case of nationalized banks, you do not need to pay anything during the moratorium period.

All expenses are covered in the loan. Most of them disburse the tuition fee to the university and living expenses are transferred to the student’s account as per the student’s requirement.

It depends on the universities. In general the deferral means that you secure the seat in the next semester or next year. In the current scenario, we have seen universities who are saying that they re-evaluate for the next year. There is a chance that if you defer the admission, the student may not be able to secure the seat and the student may need to compete for the seat again.

Deakin is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety of the University community. Deakin has paused all on-campus teaching, including classes (lectures), seminars and pracs. The decision has been made to ensure the University remains aligned with the advice of the State and Federal health authorities and meets current social distancing guidelines. Our campuses remain open and online learning at our Cloud Campus continues undisrupted. For More updates

Hello, I have an admission at University of Illinois, Chicago, MS in Computer Science. Do you have any idea about how the college is going to go about the Fall 2020 admissions. They haven’t at all contacted us anything about the Covid-19 effects like whether they are gonna have online classes if the situation doesn’t get better or postpone the start of Fall 2020 so that they can accommodate International Students. I had attended the previous seminar hosted by Amit from Gyandhan and in that he mentioned we could ask the plans about specific colleges, and if you have contacts you would get back to us. Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

Give us 24 hours to find this information for you ! We will update it here.
