The University of California was established in 1960. It is a public research University and was counted amongst the top 20 Universities in the country by a QS World University Rankings survey. The University comprises of two professional medical schools, six different residential colleges, and three graduate schools and offers more than 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Its engineering school, The Jacobs School of Engineering, offers students the opportunity to specialize in six broad academic fields. The school offers Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Science (M.S.), Ph.D. programs as well as joint M.D./M.S. and M.D./Ph.D. programs.
