Thinking about doing MBA someday but am confused… is CAT and GMAT like the same thing? Or is the syllabus very different? And for GMAT like in 2025, is it math-heavy or more logic stuff??
Both exams are very different bro CAT is mostly for Indian B-schools n GMAT is more global, like for US/UK/Europe etc. Syllabus-wise both got quant n verbal but CAT is more reading heavy + time pressure. GMAT feels more logical n structured, esp in the new format (check gmat syllabus 2025, it’s slightly diff now).
@aarushi_shah8 Great question! CAT and GMAT might seem similar, but they serve different purposes and test skills differently.
CAT is mainly for Indian B-schools like the IIMs. It’s more math-intensive, includes tougher logic puzzles, and can be quite unpredictable in structure. GMAT is used for global MBA programs and focuses more on logical reasoning and clarity in decision-making.
The 2025 GMAT (Focus Edition) is even more streamlined. It no longer includes geometry or sentence correction. Instead, it adds a Data Insights section, which tests how well you interpret charts, analyze information, and think critically.
So if you’re planning to study abroad, GMAT is the better fit. If your goal is an Indian MBA, then CAT makes more sense. Happy to chat more if you’re exploring your options!
