As of December 14, 2024, Australia has simplified the Temporary Graduate Visa (TGV) study requirements and renamed its streams:
- Post-Vocational Education Work (PVEW) Stream – for those with an Associate Degree, Diploma, or trade qualification.
- Post-Higher Education Work (PHEW) Stream – for those with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
Key changes include:
- Graduate Certificates are no longer eligible for TGV.
For example, a Graduate Diploma in Business might be linked to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Graduate Diplomas are only eligible for a TGV (PHEW) if they are directly related to and taken right after a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD.
Students must finish their eligible TGV course within six months before applying. The timing of the application is essential for visa approval.
Graduate Diplomas or Certificates can still be studied while on a TGV, but they might not qualify for a new visa.
