Australia is set to deepen its education and research partnership with India as top Australian government leaders and university representatives visit New Delhi for the Australia–India Education and Skills Council meeting on 8–9 December 2025.
Led by Education Minister Jason Clare, Skills and Training Minister Andrew Giles, and Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill, the delegation will meet with India’s Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, to strengthen collaboration across key priority areas.
What’s the focus of the visit?
- Expanding online and blended learning opportunities
- Enhancing quality assurance and qualification recognition
- Increasing joint research projects in shared national priority areas
- Supporting smoother student and academic exchanges
Universities Australia CEO Luke Sheehy highlighted that education forms the backbone of the Australia–India partnership. India is already Australia’s second-largest source of international students, and both nations aim to create more pathways for skills, research, and innovation.
For students considering Australia, this growing collaboration may mean improved mobility, better recognition of Indian qualifications, and more joint programs.
