It’s not mandatory, but if done right, it can really help you stand out. Just keep it short and authentic.
Totally agree. I applied last year and didn’t do a video resume, but a friend of mine made one for a summer program and got really good feedback. I think it’s more about adding a personal touch. You don’t need it, but if you’re comfortable on camera and have something to say beyond the paper stuff, go for it. It shows effort too.
