I’m on the fence about it, but honestly, coding’s just not sparking joy for me these days. Struggling to keep up with the code, and this semester’s courses are no joke. Feels like I’m miles behind while everyone’s breezing through like they were born to code. Been toying with the idea of jumping ship to ITS since the buzz around it seems pretty positive, but still on the fence about how solid it is. Anyone from ITS or SE think the switch is worth it? I get that it’s my call, but code’s just not clicking with me.
Hello,
I totally relate with you, even if I used to code, after working in some managerial work, I just started going down the hill as a coder. I made a mistake which also helped me. I started doing master’s in Computer Science, and I made a very life changing decision. I changed my program to Master’s in Engineering Management. I have an idea of Software Engineering, but not ITS. I would suggest you to go with Software Engineering Program. There is a good demand for it.
Reasons Why I changed:
- If I had graduated as CS major, I would have to work in a CS related job role, such as a developer only, and not in other job roles, because, It would/could have become a problem with me when I would apply for H1 Visa.
- With my experience of being in US for one year, and the amount of people, and my job profile, I didn’t think I could get a developer’s job and even If I did, I don’t think I would be happy working or yielded good results.
I like studying in Engineering Management now, because I get to learn all the programs related to Management and Engineering in different fields. Graduating from this program to work in any management related job in Engineering sector, which is a broader than CS.
The reason why I wanted to share my story is, don’t make the mistake I did, and waste time and money, Although, I didn’t, I had some subjects credit transferred to my current program, and do what you think you want to do.
I hope this helps.
Thank You,
Abhishek Nagaraja
