I’m looking to apply to universities in Canada but which ones generally accept international students… not just super top ones like UBC or Toronto, but more realistic ones that still offer good education + maybe co-op or internship stuff. Anyone got any idea?
Yeah totally get you… not everyone’s aiming for the ivy-level universities ![]()
So some universities that usually have higher acceptance for international students in canada are:
- University of Windsor
- Memorial University of Newfoundland
- University of Regina
- Lakehead University
- Thompson Rivers University
They’re known to be more welcoming, affordable too, and you can still get good career stuff especially if you hustle during your degree.
Yes! There are plenty of great Canadian universities that accept international students, offer quality education, and provide co-op or internship opportunities, without being super competitive like UBC or Toronto.
some options of unis

@Chirag5233M From my own experience, I can say Canada has plenty of good options for international students beyond just UOT, UBC, or McGill. I got admitted into the University of Victoria (UVic), which is well-known for its co-op programs and research focus, and honestly, that’s one of the main reasons I chose it. While researching, I also came across schools like Simon Fraser, Concordia, Carleton, Memorial, and Windsor, all of them are very welcoming to international students and have realistic acceptance chances compared to the super-competitive ones. The best part is that many Canadian universities, even mid-ranked ones, still maintain strong academic quality and offer co-ops or internships, which really help in building work experience and even for PR pathways later.
