I have been looking at ASU too :sob: for MS in CS though. So here’s what I found:

GRE is optional now for most programs. You’ll need a 4-year UG degree with decent grades (above 3.0 GPA / 65–70% is safe) And TOEFL/IELTS is mandatory. They ask for SOP, LORs, resume too
Applications open like almost a year early so better to plan fast.

@SunnyS007 Yeah, that’s right. ASU has made GRE optional for most master’s programs now, so unless you feel a strong score will really add to your profile, you don’t need to worry about it. What they focus on more is your academics (around 65–70% and above is usually good), IELTS/TOEFL, and how well you put together your SOP, LORs, and resume. It is competitive since ASU gets a ton of applications, but it’s definitely more doable compared to the Ivy-level schools if your profile is decent and your SOP is clear.

If you’re planning to apply, I’d say start early applications open almost a year before, so line up your recommenders, work on your SOP, and have your test scores ready. Makes the whole process much smoother when deadlines come up.

Hi @SunnyS007, ASU is actually a really popular choice for international students, especially for STEM programs because it’s got strong academics, tons of research opportunities, and a big campus community.

About the GRE: many programs at ASU have gone test-optional in the last few years, so it really depends on which department you’re applying to. For computer science, engineering, or business-related programs, some still recommend GRE, but it’s often not strictly required. Best bet is to check the specific program page.

For admission, ASU is considered moderately competitive. It’s not as hard to get into as Ivy League schools, but the top programs (like CS, data science, or MBA) do have higher requirements. A good GPA, strong SOP, recommendation letters, and relevant experience/internships make a big difference.

If you’re just starting, I’d suggest shortlisting the program you want first, then checking its exact requirements. From there, you can plan whether you need GRE, TOEFL/IELTS, and get your documents ready.

You can also explore this guide on ASU MS admission requirements, it has details on programs, eligibility, and the application process.

hey @SunnyS007 ASU is actually a super popular choice for international students, especially for master’s in fields like engineering, business, and computer science. The good news is, most programs at ASU have dropped the GRE requirement, so in a lot of cases you don’t need it anymore (though a few specific programs might still ask for it, so it depends on your department). The main things you’ll need are a solid GPA in your undergrad, good English test scores (like IELTS/TOEFL), transcripts, recommendation letters, and a statement of purpose. As for getting in—it’s not as tough as the super elite schools, but ASU is definitely competitive because of how many people apply. If you’ve got a decent academic background and put effort into your SOP and application, your chances are pretty good. Plus, ASU has a huge campus and tons of opportunities, so it’s a pretty exciting option.

I’m applying too :sob: Not hard to get in but you still need a solid profile. If ur UG marks are average then build ur profile w internships, projects, or research. Also they like it if you show how your goals match what ASU offers (labs, profs etc) in SOP
btw they have 2 intakes – Fall & Spring.
