How much is the I-20 fee at UT Arlington?

Can someone tell me what’s the I-20 fee for University of Texas at Arlington? Do we pay it when we get the admit or later? Confused between this and sevis fee.

Hey @AleenaKapoor
The I-20 itself doesn’t have a “fee” from the university but there might be some charges like a document processing fee or courier fee depending on how you want it delivered. Some unis charge a small amount to issue or mail the I-20, but it’s not like a big separate “I-20 fee.”

What you definitely have to pay is the SEVIS fee (around $350 for F-1 visa) but that’s after you get your I-20 and before you go for your visa interview. It’s a U.S. govt. fee, not a university one.

So the flow usually goes like:

  1. Get admitted
  2. Submit financial docs and request I-20
  3. Get your I-20
  4. Pay SEVIS fee
  5. Then schedule your visa interview

Hi @AleenaKapoor, So, just to clarify, there’s no separate “I-20 fee” that you pay to get the I-20 from University of Texas at Arlington. Once you get your admit, UTA will typically ask you to submit financial documents and other info before they issue the I-20.

Now, the SEVIS fee is what you pay after you get the I-20, and it’s required for your visa (F-1) process. It’s currently $350 for F-1 students and needs to be paid before your visa interview. So yeah no I-20 fee per se, but you’ll definitely be paying the SEVIS fee once your I-20 is issued.

Hope that clears it up! Let me know if you’re stuck anywhere in the process.

Hey, The University of Texas at Arlington does not charge a separate “I-20 fee” just for issuing the I-20; you only need to submit your financial and immigration documents after admission to get it processed, with possible minor costs if you opt for courier delivery. What you will definitely pay is the SEVIS I-901 fee of $350, which is a U.S. government charge required after receiving your I-20 and before attending your visa interview. In short, you don’t pay anything at the admit stage specifically for the I-20 itself the main payment comes later with the SEVIS fee.
