I am currently enrolled at an IIT but wish to apply to a more prestigious university abroad, where classes begin in March. Since I’m uncertain about my admission chances, I want to keep my IIT enrollment as a backup. My plan is to continue at IIT if I’m not accepted and withdraw to join the other university if I am. Would this arrangement be permissible?
It’s a good plan to have a backup like IIT. But keeping enrollment at IIT while applying abroad can be a bit tricky.
Generally, universities like IITs, have strict guidelines around transfers or withdrawals. You’d need to check with your academic office or registrar if it’s possible to keep your enrollment active while you wait for your admission decision. While, some institutions may allow this temporarily, but there could be deadlines for withdrawal without penalties.
And definitely don’t want to end up paying fees unnecessarily or missing important paperwork.
Yes I am checking everything with my IIT and their policies. But do you think it could cause any issues with the university abroad?
