I want to apply to Lewis University for Computer Science… but I’ve never heard much about it. Is it a decent university or just okay? Anyone studying there or got accepted? How’s the vibe, jobs, and all that? Also I saw the Lewis University acceptance rate is kinda high… does that mean it’s easy to get in but not great?
I applied last fall and got in for data science. Yes the acceptance rate is like 65% or so, so it’s not super selective. It’s in illinois, which is close to Chicago, so a decent location if you want to find internships nearby. Not IVY level or anything but it’s good for some programs. CS & Aviation are well known there.
I had the same doubt before. And went through reddit, forums and what not. Most students say it’s a chill university, especially if you want small class sizes and personal attention. It’s not a not top tier but not a scam either. Good if you make use of what they offer, career fairs n professors. Just don’t expect like MIT vibes ![]()
Lewis University is good, but since it’s near Chicago, there can be issues with getting a visa. However, the university has a few good programs where the chances of visa approval are higher—such as Project Management and Business Analytics. If you choose one of these programs, the chances of getting your visa approved are better. Also, the acceptance rate is around 72%, so it’s easier to get admitted. Overall, the university might be a good option.
Hey @kartik_pyre So Lewis University is a private uni in Illinois and it’s pretty well-known around the Midwest. For Computer Science it’s actually decent if you prefer smaller classes more personal attention from profs and a supportive campus vibe. Yeah, the acceptance rate is high (around 90%+), but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. it just means they’re more open with admissions. The best part is it’s close to Chicago so there are good internship and job options in tech. It’s not as globally famous as big CS schools but if you make the most of it. you can still get a solid education and good industry links.

@kartik_pyre Lewis University in Illinois is a decent option for computer science, especially if you’re looking for smaller class sizes, approachable faculty, and flexible programs with specializations like AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The acceptance rate is fairly high (around 70–75%), which makes it easier to get in but also means it doesn’t carry the same prestige as top CS schools. Career outcomes are good, with many graduates finding jobs or continuing to grad school, though starting salaries tend to be moderate compared to big-name universities. Overall, it’s a solid and supportive place to study if you value practical learning and a close-knit campus environment, but if your goal is cutting-edge research or top-tier tech company recruiting, you may want to compare it with more competitive programs.
