Is SAT/ACT mandatory for admission to Stony Brook?

Yeah, you will have to send either of the scores with your admission application. It is mandatory for undergraduate admissions. You will also have to send in English test scores like TOEFL or IETLS along with your transcripts.

@Neelakshi.Ram, Thanks. Can you please also tell about the admission criteria and process?

How is the Computer Science department of Stony Brook? I got into CMU, Stony, Ohio State. I am wondering if Stony is worth it?

Hey Kamini, I wouldn’t suggest Stony Brook for Computer Science. The department is not well known and the experience of the students is not what you would expect. Students choose Stony Brook because it is less expensive option with the same ranking and standard. But the reviews of the department are not worth the investment. CMU is the obvious choice. Better than Stony Brook in every aspect and is worth the investment.

My main reason for going for Stony Brook is because it is a less expensive option. How are the placement options after graduating?

How hard is it to get into MS in CS for SBU? I was an average student in my undergrad.

I have the same question - what are the placement opportunities after graduation?
