Is an MBA from Brock university good? Should I go for a Graduate Diploma or Masters in Business Administration?
Brock is known for its Business department. Even its Accounting department is quite sought after. You can definitely opt for Brock for your MBA. The university is known for research coursework and will provide experiential learning for both, MBA and Business Administration (GD). Graduate Diploma will form the base of your business administrative knowledge. It is basically less intensive and more foundational in terms of the functional knowledge it will provide for career development. I would suggest you opt for a traditional MBA if you are looking for a more intensive and comprehensive curriculum. It also offers specializations in

- Marketing
- Operations Management
It is a 1 to 2-year course ( depending on your specialization) whereas the duration of GD is 8 months with only 10 courses.
If you are looking for some base knowledge, a degree, and already have work experience then getting a diploma is also a good option as it will cost less and will give you the knowledge you need to enhance your career.
Although Brock University isn’t rated among the top Canadian universities for completing an MBA, it is a decent university. It is ranked among the top 30 universities in Canada. The quality of the curriculum and the faculty is good, Canada has better universities for courses in business management, such as University of Toronto, McGill University or UBC.
Among Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) and MBA, the former works out well for students from non-business backgrounds. A 75% average score during your bachelor’s degree is required, and the GMAT minimum requirement is 550, while GMAT is 60th percentile. Minimum IELTS score requirement is 7.5, while minimum TOEFL score required is 105. The total cost of the course for international students is $33,337.
The MBA course is meant more for students with some amount of work experience of BBA background. However, the fee for MBA (international students) is $62,000. The MBA course is obviously better from a placement and salary point of view, but the fee is nearly double.
Will pursuing an MBA from Humber be better than Brock? How does Humber fair in terms of ranking and job opportunities?
Humber offers an advanced diploma in Business Administration, which is a 6-semester course. So it is not exactly an MBA but will definitely teach you the basics involved in handling a business. The second semester has a Co-op work term so you will also get hands-on knowledge about the field. The course also seems good, which includes subjects such as operations management, accounting, human resource management, marketing research, etc. The first year provides a solid base and in subsequent years you can specialize in Business Management or Business Marketing. The course would be beneficial if you are looking for an entry into the world of business but do not wish to invest in a Masters’s degree.
For a more intensive program, I’d suggest opting for Brock University. However, better than both would be choosing the University of Toronto.

If you’re going to a university abroad, it only makes sense to apply for the best management school in Canada. Apply to Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. The school offers various MBA programs such as full-time MBA, Morning MBA and Evening MBA, Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences, Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA, and One year executive MBA.
It is highly acclaimed among the employers with graduates getting handsome salary packages. Obviously with such a reputation, it would require a pretty good profile to get into, such as outstanding IELTS score, GMAT/GRE score, work experience, GPA, etc. The proximity of the Financial District is another plus, so you have direct access to employers. Granted the tuition is a lot higher than Brock or Humber, but it matches the value provided by the college.

Strategy and Finance are best known though. Additionally, there are more than 90 electives for you to choose from - Accounting, Economic Analysis and Policy, Finance, Integrative Thinking, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management, and Strategic Management. It will be a much better option than Brock university in terms of the value provided and job opportunities. I feel if you are investing in abroad education, go for the top schools if you have the profile for it.
Rotman sounds good but is too expensive for a middle class person like me. Are there any other options available, apart from Brock and Humber?
You can check out Conestoga College. They offer advanced diploma programs in Business Administration with a number of specializations such as

But as earlier pointed out, it is better to go for a Graduate Diploma rather than an Advanced diploma. It depends on your need but if you are looking for a postgraduate degree or an equivalent to it, go for a graduate diploma rather than an advanced diploma. A little more investment can get you a better college and a more useful degree.
Would you recommend Marketing, Business from Conestoga? I do not have any work experience. I want to get into the marketing field. Is the course suitable for that?
The course will prepare you for any entry-level marketing gig including advertising agencies, product or service industries, non-profit organizations, small businesses, and self employment. If you are only interested in the degree and do not have any long term plans to stay in Canada then I’d recommend this course and college. It is a college diploma, which won’t burn a whole in your pocket. The fees for the course is CA$ 14,975 for the year and the course duration is 2 years.
What about the Supply chain management from Conestoga??? Is it also a diploma? Will it add any worth to my career chart?
Yes, this program is also an Advanced Diploma offered by the college. It is a three year Business Administration program on Supply chain and operations management. The program has a good standing. Even the curriculum is good and will definitely help you get a good job. It includes courses like Business Analytics, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Information System, Industrial Engineering, etc. You will learn a lot about different strands, obviously not in dept, but in my opinion it is bound to make you more employable.
Plus you will also be eligible for acceptance into the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional designation graduate program, which is administered by the Supply Chain Canada, Ontario institute.
I am not so sure about the course Conestoga is offering. I think a proper masters degree would be more beneficial. Concordia does have a program Masters of Supply Chain Management (MSCM). The course also has an applied research project so you will be tackling on-the-job issues. The program also focuses on applied teaching and research of real-life SMC issues. Instead of being interdisciplinary, the course offers in-depth knowledge of SMC, which in my opinion is better.
