The final exam for one of my classes is supposedly just for extra credit. However, the syllabus states that it also “increases the maximum points from 100 to 110 for the class and offers the opportunity to earn 10 extra credit points.” I entered a hypothetical grade for the final and it negatively affected my grade. I tried to contact the professor, but he wasn’t available during office hours and hasn’t responded to my emails.

Please try reaching out to your student advisor and see if he/she can help. I am a bit confused by this hypothetical in which an increase in score is negatively affecting your grades. However, whatever the situation, your student advisor is another alternative to leverage.
