GMAT or CFA which is a better option for me?

by SidKapoor

I’m an IIT graduate (2019) with six years of work experience in the infrastructure sector. I’ve also completed a 10-week leadership program at IIMA and currently earn 35 LPA. I’m looking to transition into Investment Banking, ideally in Equity Research or Portfolio Management, or at least a managerial role within an IB firm.

I’m trying to decide on the best path: pursuing the CFA (all three levels) or taking the GMAT and then applying for an MBA at ISB or a foreign institution. My GMAT mock score was around 540 (Q84, V74, DI73). Which path would be most effective for my career goals?

An IIT grad with six years in infrastructure, an IIMA leadership program, and 35 LPA – that’s a strong profile! Wanting to change to Investment Banking, specifically Equity Research or Portfolio Management, is ambitious but definitely achievable. The CFA vs. MBA question is a classic one.
