German Visa application missing from embassy records after appointment?

Has anyone faced the same issue? Few days back, I had my appointment (VFS Delhi) and today, as I mailed German Embassy regarding my application status, and the reply was “Currently, there is no Visa Application with the mentioned passport number.”
